Description

Brown County Portion

The 83 mile Mountain-Bay trail spans Brown, Shawano and Marathon counties. Its name is derived from Rib Mountain in Marathon County and Green Bay in Brown County. The trail is built on an abandoned railroad path and has a crushed stone surface.

The Brown County portion of the trail runs from the Village of Howard to the Village of Pulaski and is approximately 12 miles in length. Starting from the trailhead in Howard, the trail passes through a mix of woods, newly developed housing and farmland. The trail features numerous small bridges and a few road overpasses. Pulaski is a particularly trail-friendly area with several business catering to trail users including the Trail's End Bar and Grill, Mountain-Bay Plaza and the Trailside Convenience Store.
Care should be taken to avoid getting too close to the sloping trail shoulders due to occasional steep drop-offs.

Directions

From Green Bay, take Velp Ave. west to Riverview Dr. Turn right on Riverview Dr. and then left on Lakeview Dr. Continue on Lakeview Dr. for about 2 tenths of a mile. The trailhead is on the left side of the road and a small parking lot is on the right.
